This is the story of Jennifer & Colm’s Ballymagarvey Village Wedding. Holy moly, what an outrageously great day out this was for everyone there including me. But before we get into all that, let’s go back to when I first met this lovely couple to talk ‘all things wedding’. I’d arranged to meet them at ‘Kaph’ cafe in the centre of Dublin’s thriving, trendy, creative and cool zone on Drury Street. We laughed a little, we schemed and made plans regarding how the photography would go on the big day. During our meeting I realised this was the perfect setting to meet these two. Why? Because Jennifer & Colm were extremely laid back, alot of fun to be around and it was clear they were 100% up for all ideas that revolved around creative and stylish photography. They knew what they wanted yet they were completely open to new ideas. It’s safe to say this wedding was a photographer’s dream.
Cut to 6 weeks later, it’s showtime and bring on their Ballymagarvey Village Wedding. I met Kev from Little Bear Films (www.littlebear.ie) on arrival to Ballymagarvey Village. Before calling to Jennifer & Co. we checked out a number of locations where we intended to bring the couple later. The venue looked superb and it was in full bloom. Aware the sun was going to be high, we chose a number of locations to suit different lighting situations including various degrees of shade, beautiful backdrops and open blue skies to use direct sunlight too.
I do love arriving to bridal prep and feeling the love, the very slight nerves, the laughter and the general buzz of bride and bridesmaids pottering around, drinking champagne and listing to spotify wedding morning tunes. This Bride Squad were no different however excitement gets heightened when summer is here. This brings so many more creative and interesting ideas for outdoor wedding photography which isn’t always an option in Ireland. For instance, can we hang your wedding dress ‘safely’ on a tree outside despite the breeze Jennifer? Yes! Will we sit outside and get a photo with you and your besties? Yes! Maybe a stroll around the grounds to various scenic locations for gorgeous couple photos now? Yes! It looks like we might get a micro-moment of outrageously, beautiful light at sunset. Will you both come outside? Yes! Sparkler photos so that your joyful selves shine through once more? Yes!
This is my third time capturing a Ballymagarvey Village Wedding (www.ballymagarveyvillage.ie) yet the first time I’ve seen the venue in full bloom with blue skies and sunshine. Groom Prep shots courtesy of very talented Wojtek Piatek (www.wojtekpiatek.com) who was second shooting with me for this one. Isn’t there something really special and nice about drinking a cocktail on the grass in the glorious summer sun having just watched two beautiful peeps you love get married? If you like the sound of all of this, just wait until you see the photographs which will tell this story far better than these words.
