This is the story of Ciara & Aisling and their very slick Smock Alley Theatre Wedding. Dublin City is such a beautiful place to get married however there is something very cool (expose the pun) about a Winter Wedding in the City.
Ciara & Aisling contacted me two years before they tied the knot to see if I would capture their big day. Two outrageously organised Brides, they who knew exactly what they wanted. You see a few years back I captured a candid picture of these two lovebirds dancing like nobody was watching at their friend’s wedding (www.fotograph.ie/gallery/dee-and-rob-wedding/). When they saw this photo, they said they knew they wanted me to be apart of their big day too.
And what a superb wedding day it was! The winter sun was shining as the Brides-To-Be got ready in the Christmas decorated 4 Seasons, Ballsbride. They had a very emotional ‘First Look’ at the hotel. We next visited ‘Dakota’ on South William Street where they had enjoyed their very first date together. Since I had previously scouted locations, we strolled around the uber cool parts of Dublin for their wedding portraits. This included some beautiful and funky Dublin City Backdrops. The Ladies popped opened smoke grenades for some slick photos at Love Lane, Temple Bar. Oh and all of this happened before the ceremony!!!
This was my first time capturing a Smock Alley Theatre Wedding (www.smockalley.com) and I absolutely loved this venue. The light, the simple elegant space with the stunning stained glass windows. For those of you looking for an intimate civil ceremony in the city, Smock Alley is a superb choice. Both ceremony and the wedding reception at the Angler’s Rest were decorated to perfection by Vintage Affair. The ‘icing on the cake’ however was the table plan and individual place cards! Ciara & Aisling commissioned the artist Charlie from ‘Hey Draw Me’ (www.heydrawme.com) to draw caricatures of every single guest. So on arrival, your quirky cartoon face adorned your table place. Possibly one of the coolest and most unique things I have ever seen at a wedding to date. Serious style, such creative ideas throughout the day and a supercool couple!
