This is the story of Vicky & Peter’s wedding at The Dean Hotel, Dublin. This was one of those weddings that highlighted how intimate weddings can be just as crazy as the big ones. Vicky & Peter did a controversial, risky thing during a year of both fear and uncertainty. With a wedding already booked for 2021, they decided to bring it forward to 2020 amidst the heart of covid-times. A gentle reminder that 2020 is the year that most couples cancelled their original wedding dates, some sadly cancelled their second date too.
When Vicky contacted me at short notice to photograph her new wedding date at the Dean Hotel Dublin, I was absolutely thrilled to be able to say “Yes – I – Am!” (available). I absolutely LOVE the Dean Hotel. I love its location just past St. Stephen’s Green. I love the decor, the furniture, the rugs and the mad stuff on the walls. I love how slick the place is. I also love the steak at Sophie’s on the roof. I don’t work for The Dean however based on where this blog is going, maybe I should! Now enough about what I love and back to Vicky & Peter. They loved the Dean Hotel too and they had the whole place to themselves to party with their 23 guests.
However before the party started at the contemporary establishment described above, we went back in time. Treated to a the stunning surroundings of City Hall, Dublin. Old Georgian Architecture which is such an important part of traditional Dublin. Mosaics and marble, paintings and pillars with oooooooh THAT light. It was a dream to capture these two literally ‘tying the knot’ with a humanist hand-fasting ceremony.
Intimate wedding ceremony, followed by a spin around the capital for a few Dublin City Wedding portraits. Quick stop at St. Stephen’s Green where the couple had their first kiss. Dodged the rain like a bunch of ninjas. Onto the outrageously fun drinks reception on the rooftop restaurant of the The Dean. I definitely saw two rounds of Jager-bombs and it was approx 4:45pm! These people knew how to celebrate in style.
Such a superb wedding, serious laughs and very intense dancing. At the heart of this were two lovely souls that felt they couldn’t wait another year to say “I Do!” Vicky and Peter, I’m so glad you found each other…and me! Two more Heros who got married during a time of restrictions can be enjoyed right here.
